Undergraduate Internships

IMG 5783What Career Guides Interns Do:

  • Communicate and listen to peers as they discuss interests, abilities, values and experiences
  • Serve as first point of contact for students visiting CEO by creating a warm and welcoming environment
  • Maintain knowledge of all career resources in center
  • Schedule appointments and make referrals to appropriate campus organizations, faculty and staff
  • Represent CEO during outreaches to clubs, organizations and residence halls
  • Assist during Majors Fair, Internship Fair, and CareerFest
  • Actively participate during staff meetings by researching and presenting articles and current events related to college students and career planning
  • Specific projects as they relate to internship requirements (could include research, marketing, etc., )

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Satisfactory academic standing with a minimum GPA of 3.0 at the time of application/throughout the position
  • Must be completing an internship for academic credit through your department
  • Attend training retreat Friday after Fall classes begin
  • Commit to one academic year
  • Work 8-10 hours/week (depending on internship requirements) during first semester and 3-4 hours/week during second semester
  • Attend staff meetings, Fridays, 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. (or 1-2 depending on schedules of other interns)
  • Proven listening and communication skills
  • Ability to develop rapport with students in an open and supportive environment
  • Ability to take initiative & high level of reliability, mature
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Work well in a team environment as well as independently
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
